Why this site exists.
Most buying advice online is either a thin list of Amazon bestsellers or a press release with a star rating stapled to it. Neither tells you why one product is right for you and the next one is not.
We read the spec sheets, the standards and the independent testing, then write the guide we wanted to find ourselves: what the numbers on the box mean, which of them change how the product performs day to day, and which are marketing.
We are reader-funded through affiliate commissions, which means we have to be useful to be paid — a recommendation you regret is worth nothing to us. Where we earn a commission we say so, and our ranking method is written down so you can judge it for yourself.
How we rank
Companies featured on this site may compensate us, and that can influence which products are listed and where they appear. Rankings are also affected by product specifications, independent testing where it exists, warranty and return terms, price relative to comparable products, and reader feedback.
